Best Keyboard Cases

You have an amazing keyboard, so it’s only right that you invest in the best piano case.

The best piano cases are not hard to come across, thankfully. With them by your side, you’ll be travelling in style, but more importantly, your keyboard would be safe and sound. Let’s review them below.

1. Gator Padded Keyboard Case (GKB-88)

If you have an 88-note keyboard that’s pretty slim, the GKB-88 is the case for you. Its dimensions are 53 x 15 x 6 inches, supporting the slimmest instruments.

You don’t have to worry about your keyboard getting damaged. There’s a 20 mm tricot padding inside the GKB-88, keeping your instrument safe during the bumpiest of rides.

The fact that you’re getting a durable nylon exterior is pretty great too. It’s 6000 deniers, so it keeps tears away. Let’s not forget that it’s great at preventing water from moving in too.

There are padded straps in place. They are strapped on your keyboard and prevent it from moving. As they’re padded, your keyboard has extra security.

The case does a good job of protection. However, does the GKB-88 make keyboards easy to transport? Definitely. Its handles are comfortable to hold, unlike many on the market.

There’s an external accessory pouch as well. You can carry all sorts of cables with you. Who wouldn’t want that?

The case isn’t the lightest, unfortunately. It comes in at 6.16 pounds.

2. Gator Lightweight Rolling Keyboard Case (GK-88)

Unlike its brother, the GKB-88, it can’t hold slim keyboards. That being said, the inside is superbly padded. There’s a tricot foam interior, always keeping your keyboard safe.

Similar to the GKB-88, you’ll see dual padded straps again. As you know, the straps being padded is added protection, which we’re fans of.

Not only do you get tricot padding, the case comes with a top frame and polyethylene reinforced interior slide. They ensure nothing from the outside gets to your keyboard. They also lessen impacts greatly.

Its exterior is extremely durable. You’re getting 600-denier nylon. It’s tear-resistant, but more importantly, moisture resistant.

You’ll notice an external pouch as well. This is to store your cables and pedals.

Unfortunately, the GK-88 isn’t the lightest case on our list. It’s 8.66 pounds. It can be an arm-work out to carry around.

Although its straps are uber comfortable, you probably won’t do much carrying. The case comes with a handle and wheels. For the added protection, there are skid markers as well. They prevent your keyboard from getting banged up if anything smashes into it.

In terms of its dimensions, it’s 57.5 x 18 x 6 inches.

If you’re wondering, you can use it to carry 88-note keyboards.

3. Gator Light Duty Keyboard Case (GKBE-76)

The GKBE-76 is seriously light. The case weighs 2 pounds, making it a breeze to carry around. This isn’t the only way it’s so easy to transport, however. Its two webbed nylon handles balance the weight of your keyboard, never straining your shoulders when on the move.

It comes with a 10 mm foam lining. Although it does a decent job at keeping shocks at bay, 10 mm padding is not the best.

Placing your keyboard inside the GKBE-76 is pretty easy. It’s envelope-like, so it swallows them up.

Did we mention that the nylon on its exterior is durable? Although not 6000 deniers, it does a good job of resisting tears and moisture.

And as its name suggests, it can only fit 76 note keyboards. What about the size of keyboards? Well, it’s inner dimensions are 51 x 18 x 5 inches. So, keep this in mind.

Unlike the GK-88, its set up is pretty simple. There aren’t a thousand flaps inside it. This makes it an amazing bag for quick gigs.

4. Donner 61 Note Keyboard Case

If you own a 61-note keyboard, the 61-note case by donner is a great purchase. For starters, it looks great. We have to say, its all-black body and logo on the corner of its exterior make it extra appealing.

Speaking of its exterior, you’ll notice an outer pouch. At this point, you probably know what it is. It’s an exterior case that you can use to carry cables and pedals. The Donner’s pouch is known to be spacious.

Once again, you’re met with a 6000-denier nylon exterior. This more than means it’s tough.

We wouldn’t be surprised if you regularly run your fingers through its insides. You’re getting premium oxford cloth. Not only is it soft, but it’s also somewhat durable. It’s 210 deniers after all.

There’s 10 mm padding as well, which a decent job at security.  But wait, that’s not all. The keyboard case has anti-friction bottom pads. They’re added protection from impacts.

So far so good, but things are about to get better. We’re total fans of its zippers. We think they’re very durable.

You’re probably wondering what its inner dimensions are. They are 41 x 16.1 x 5.12 inches.

5. Tosnail 61 Note Padded Gig Bag

Its exterior is very glossy. The Tosnail certainly looks good on your shoulders. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a handle and wheels to carry around. Thankfully, its nylon straps are pretty long, easy to sling around. They are comfortable but not the most comfortable we’ve come across.

We’re fond of the Tosnail bag, but we’re not too sure about its lack of padding. You’re only getting 6 mm of foam, not helping much.

Its exterior is made from oxford cloth. Not only does it look great, but the cloth is also silky. We just know you’ll love running your fingers across it.  That being said, It’s not the most water or dust resistant.

It doesn’t have an additional pouch. However, it has some large pockets on its front. They’re noticeably spacious. You can’t place pedals in them, though. Tosnail says that power supplies and books are about it.

Due to its build, it’s no surprise that the case is light. It’s 1.55 pounds and is the lightest piano case on our list.

You’re probably wondering what its inner dimensions are. They’re 39 x 16 x 6 inches. As its name suggests, it can be used to carry 61-note keyboards around.

To top it off, you’re getting a 2-pull zipper. This lets you unzip the case across from its center.

6. Yamaha Soft Case for 88 Key P-Series

The Yamaha case is probably the softest on our list. However, this means that it doesn’t come with much padding. You need to decide if this compromise is worth it. To us, it isn’t.

The case works for 88 note keyboards. However, not for all brands. You can only use it if you own a Yamaha P-series piano. It’s compatible with the P35, P45, P71, P105, and P115.

Surprisingly, it’s not that light for a soft case. You’re getting a 3.5-pound unit.

Like the other cases on our list, you get external storage space. The external pouch on it is especially big. Similarly, you can carry and wires and pedals inside of it.

Although a soft case, it retains its shape, which is nice. As we said, it comes with padding but not much.

It’s not the most resistant to drops. However, it can handle water very well.

We think its straps are comfortable too. What more could you want?

What about its dimensions. They are 54 x 9 x 13 inches across.

7. Yamaha Artiste Series Keyboard Bag for 76-Note Keyboards

We’re total fans of its zippers. They’re self-repairing. This means that when you open them, they close automatically. Such a thing is great if you’re in a hurry. We love that they’re nylon too. This makes them even more durable.

Let’s talk about its exterior. So far, we’ve seen quite a few cases come with 6000 denier nylon outsides. This is true for the Yamaha case as well.

You’re getting 10 mm thick pads inside, decently keeping your instrument safe. That being said, 10 mm pads are not as shock-resistant as 20 mm ones.

The keyboard bag comes with large external pouches as well. It easily lets you carry paddles and cables.

We’re fans of its shoulder straps. When on the move, it keeps your keyboard centered. The cherry on top is the fact that it can be wrapped around you. This reduces theft greatly.

You’re probably wondering what its internal dimensions are. Well, they’re 50 x 12 x 26 inches.

8. Gator Pro-Go Ultimate Keyboard Case (G-PG-49)

The Gator G-PG-49 looks durable. Its looks aren’t deceiving. It’s hard-cased and comes with some serious padding. Not only will you be protected from shocks, but you’ll never have to worry about scratches again. There’s a microfleece interior, keeping your keyboard in pristine condition.  It’s also very soft. Seriously, try touching it.

The G-PG-49 ensures that your keyboard stays safe no matter the weather. It comes with a rainfly, protecting instruments from the elements. We have to say, the rainfly is very easy to access. We’re definitely pleased.

Like its counterparts, its straps are comfortable. There are back straps too, letting your shoulders take a break.

It’s heavy, at 6 pounds.

Although there’s no external pouch, there is a large pocket.

We got padded straps inside of our other Gator bags and the G-PG-49 is no different.

From the many bags we reviewed, we feel like the G-PG-49 is the most convenient. There’s a fabulous cable management system inside it. We know how handy this is.

From its name, you might’ve guessed that you can transport 49 note keyboards with it. But what are its inner dimensions? They are 35.5 x 14 x 5 inches.

9. Gator Molded Flight Case (GTSA-KEY49)

The case is tough. It comes with a polyethylene shell, making it built to military spec. You’ll never have to worry about damaging your keyboard again.

You needn’t worry about scratching your instrument either. There’s a plush interior, keeping it safe from scruffs and scratches.

You don’t get straps but an ergonomic handle. It was injection moulded, letting it fit snuggly into your palms.

It comes with TSA approved locking latches. This means it’s safe to fly with.

The case looks cool too. We think that the box-like design is more appealing than the regular envelope case.

Moreover, the GTSA-KEY49 is the second case so far that it comes with wheels. Having to not carry your keyboard makes transits a breeze.

So far so good, but the case is pretty heavy. It’s 13. 15 pounds, definitely making it a wrist work out.

No surprise, there’s thick foam padding inside it. What’s best about this is the fact that there is a hoop and loop backing to move the foam into any position.

As its name suggests, it can carry a keyboard that is 49 note. But how big must these keyboards be? The following are the case’s inner dimensions, 41.5 x 6.25 x 16.5 inches.

10. Gator Lightweight Keyboard Case (GK-61-SLIM)

Not only do you get a padded frame, but you also get a polyethylene reinforced interior. This is double the protection.

Its padding can be moved around, ensuring your keyboard gets maximum coverage. No surprise, its insides come with padded straps as well. This along with the fact that its foam can be moved is appreciated.

The case is pretty heavy. It outdoes GTSA-KEY49, being 23 pounds. This isn’t a surprise as it’s a semi-rigid case.  Due to its weight, the availability of wheels and a handle is very useful.

There are skid markers as well, which as you know, protect the case from impact. More importantly, the markers prevent the case from rolling away.

If you’re wondering what its exterior is made of, it’s 6000 denier nylon.

In case you didn’t know, the case can be used to transport 61 note keyboards. However, only the slim ones. Its dimensions are 41.5 x 12.5 x 5 inches.

You’re also getting a large external pouch for cables and pedals.  There’s a spacious internal compartment too.
